His Holiness Sakya Trizin is the 41st Patriarch and Supreme head of the Sakya Tradition, one of the 4 main traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. He is a direct descendant of the Khon lineage, a very ancient Tibetan religious family whose history predates the arrival of Buddhism in Tibet. "Sakya Trizin" means "The Throne Holder of Sakya". |

His Holiness has had an intensive education in all aspects of the major and minor sciences, and received the transmissions, teachings, and oral instructions of the vast collections of sutra and mantra teachings of Tibet, and has undertaken many retreats. He illuminates and inspires students from all traditions and schools without partiality. His Holiness is an unsurpassable voice of the Buddha's teaching and a source of refuge and joy for countless beings. |

His Holiness encourages the propagation of the holy Dharma throughout the world. Towards this end, he has established, supported and taught in numerous monasteries and Dharma institututions in many parts of the world, thus preserving & propagating the Buddha's teachings during this modern age. Presently, His Holiness resides in Dehradun, India. |
